History
The Student Chapter of the Optical Society of America at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln was formed in April of 1993. Our purpose as stated in the constitution is :
- To promote awareness of optics and and optical engineering.
- To serve as a means of communication and interaction between
students, faculty, and administration.
- To establish interaction between students and the local chapters
and national headquarters of the Optical Society of America.
- To broaden the student's insight of post-graduate opportunities.
Most of the original members were in an optics class and lab taught by Dr. Dennis R. Alexander , who has served as the advisor of the organization since its inception.
