Activities

Our members engage in a wide variety of activities, with the intent of promoting the goals of our organization. Examples include:

Electrical Engineering Lab Kit Sales
These kits are essential to various labs offered by the department.

Field Trips To Local Area Companies
These trips are to help the members network with potential employers and to realize the different types of careers engineering can lead to.

Faculty and Community Speakers
Sponsoring professors within the department to talk about their research, or professionals within related disciplines to talk about their work, shows members and other interested students a myriad of different career paths that may be taken upon graduation.

Faculty Laboratory Tours
As students in our engineering classes, we often forget what great things our professors are doing outside the classroom. These tours help bridge communication between faculty and students, and even stimulate some research interests in our members!

Community Service and Philanthropies
As an organization, HKN's primary goals involve giving back to the community. Thus, we attempt to organize several community service projects and philanthropies each semester. For example, we judged a local elementary school science fair when extra help was needed.

Assistance with special projects for the Electrical Engineering department
Being students in the department, we enjoy having input into major decisions being made, special events being planned, and - above all - the continued well-being of the faculty and classes that make our experiences here so worthwhile.
