Dr. Reid joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering in 1993. Prior to coming to UNL he had a total of eight years experience at General Motors, and four years teaching experience at GMI Engineering & Management Institute (now Kettering University). Dr. Reid specializes in nonlinear finite element analysis applications with a special interest in roadside safety and automotive crashworthiness. He has had more than $10 million in research funding while at UNL, has published 73 technical papers (41 of which are refereed journal papers) and has obtained 14 patents.

Research Interests:

Dr. Reid works with the Midwest Roadside Safety Facility (MwRSF, http://mwrsf.unl.edu). The MwRSF designs, analyzes, and crash tests roadside safety devices, as well as race track protection barriers. Dr. Reid's focus is on simulation support of these projects.
