Subject: Account Policies
Account Policies:

1.
An account can be issued to anyone who is on the current roster of College of Engineering and Technology students. Persons not appearing on the roster may obtain accounts by contacting the appropriate system manager:

2.
Only one account will be issued per person per system.

3.
In the case of student accounts, the account will remain valid for as long as the student is on the roster (ie, registered for a class in the College of Engineering & Technology). They will not be required to renew their accounts each semester. The account of a student who does not appear on the roster for the current semester, will be made invalid and eventually will be removed. Accounts at the end of the spring semester will be carried over the summer and will still be valid at the beginning of the following fall semester.

Accounts of students who leave the College of Engineering & Technology (other than by graduation) will have 2 weeks to move their files to another system before the account is closed. If desired, the user can inform the system manager of the system and have their email forwarded to another system for a semester's period.

Accounts of faculty, staff, and other accounts will remain valid until the person leaves the university, or by special arrangement.

4.
All accounts are subject to disk quotas (disk space limitations). Some systems currently have disk quotas, others do not.

5.
All files on the system are backed up to tape once per week. Every effort will be made to recover files in the case of a disaster (disk crash, etc.) but it is not possible to guarantee 100% recovery. Therefore it is recommended that each person backs up files that are vital to their existence. For example, by transferring copies of the files to a PC.
